We are Kāēyas Mamāceqtawak

The Ancient Movers of Life
Our being well as a People is inseparable from the wellbeing of our Mother Nature, the Natural World.

Our Mission

Medicine Fish is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Indigenous Youth through the revitalization of cultural connections through self and Mother Earth.

Our Vision

We envision a future where grandmother Earth and people heal together, where our Pesāēhkiw (Buffalo) and Nama’o (Sturgeon) shape a healthy landscape, and where communities thrive in balance with the natural world.

We Move with the Energy Around Us

Through youth-led restoration and healing, we move with the understanding that conservation is about protecting nature by renewing our sacred relationship with kōhkomāēhsahkamekonaw, our grandmother Earth.

“I feel safest with Medicine Fish because it feels like home.”

Our Young People are Leading the Way

What began as localized healing work has begun to shape a broader conservation paradigm, one that centers Indigenous leadership, cultural ecological knowledge, and the spiritual connection between people, lands, and waters.

At the heart of this shift are our young people, who are inheriting these teachings and carrying them forward with clarity, creativity, and compassion.

Our Wellbeing is Tied to Ecological Health

Bringing ecological balance through the safe return of cultural keystone species is a crucial aspect of our self-sufficiency and wellness, where food sustainability is a positive outcome.

“None of our work would exist if it wasn’t for relationships — relationships with each other, the natural world, and our ancestors.”

When We Live Culture,
We Live Identity

By centering Omāēqnomenēwak Māēhnow Pemātesekan (the Menominee Way of a Good Life), we recognize the creativity, knowledge, and work ethic our Menominee youth carry. They help us deepen our collective understanding of their important role as future leaders and caretakers of our homelands.
